On the occasion of Sri Aurobindo’s Mahasamadhi day we discuss an aspect of His vast yoga which baffles many. It is this possibility of physical immortality. Though Sri Aurobindo made it abundantly clear that this was to be the crown, the last inevitable step of the Yoga, there are many who emphasize on this aspect, as if the Yoga stands or falls by this. The traditionalists argue against the very possibility. All this is obviously a narrow and limited reading of the tradition where also we find ample evidence of efforts towards physical immortality, albeit incomplete, because the crucial key was missing. This talk focuses upon this hitherto much misunderstood aspect of the Integral yoga.
